Death Investigation in Waynesville, NC

Male subject found deceased in a tent, beside Best Buy.
Waynesville, N.C. – This morning, the Waynesville Police Department responded to a wooded area directly beside Best Buy at 45 Plaza Place in West Waynesville to investigate a white male who had been found deceased. When officers arrived, they found the subject in a tent located in a wooded area, within feet of the building. Investigators arrived and as a result of processing the scene found no obvious signs of injury but did find evidence of drug use. Evidence collected at the scene has been field tested and tested positive for fentanyl. The WPD is familiar with the deceased and is working to notify the next of kin. Additional information will be provided when available.
