Haywood County announces Covid rates

HAYWOOD COUNTY, NC – Haywood County government released the following numbers for the county’s Covid statistics.
The test positivity rate remains high at 26.9% but the continued downward trend is good news. Last week’s reported two-week positivity rate was 34.5%. The preferred positivity rate is anything less than 5%.
Regional hospital and EMS systems remain strained, however, regional COVID hospitalizations have shown a 58 percent improvement over the last two weeks (174 people hospitalized with COVID this week compared to 276 two weeks ago).
Unfortunately, in the last month, Haywood County mourned the loss of 17 more people to COVID-19. They ranged in age from their early forties to their mid-nineties.
