Smoky Mountain Conference Volleyball Round-Up

Photo from BT Douthit

Volleyball season is off to a hot start in the Smoky Mountain Conference. COVID has prevented almost every team from playing the correct amount of games, but we are going to do our best to recap what has happened in the SMC thus far.

The Murphy Lady Bulldogs sit atop of the Smoky Mountain Conference at this point in the year. They have only lost 2 sets on the season, on their way to a 5-0 record which include being 2-0 in conference play. The lady Bulldogs have ran through the likes of Franklin, Highlands, Tallulah Falls, Cherokee and Hayesville. Hayesville is second in the conference, with a record of 1-3 (1-1). Andrews and Cherokee are the only 2 other teams in the SMC to have played conference games, and are both 0-1 in conference play.

Robbinsville has not currently played a SMC game but they are 6-0 on the season, with wins over Franklin, BREC, Asheville School, Smoky Mountain and Asheville High. The Black Knight have currently only lost 3 sets on the year, and will look to keep things rolling when they resume play in mid September when they return from quarantine.

Here are the NCHSAA 1A Volleyball rankings according to MaxPreps:
